How AlterEgo's Internal Analytics Works

AlterEgo endeavors to gather sufficient information for analyzing our API calls and how visitors access it without compromising the privacy of our visitors. AlterEgo's internal analytical logging involves logging for as long as necessary to provide the service: a time stamp, API call requested, user agent, language header, website visited, and a hash of all of this information. After the fact, we keep only aggregate information from these logs. We don't use any geolocation service to map IP addresses to countries.

It is up to you whether to submit information to us, and how much information to provide via the Feedback mechanism either in the AddOn or directly on our website. If you choose to become an AlterEgo subscriber we may ask for identifying information such as your credit card number. Alternatively we support PayPal payments which give us no insight into any of your personal info. All this information is processed via Braintree Payments and it never reaches our servers. We only store a unique validation token that we receive after the payment has been done to enable the subscription.

We may ask for additional personal information when you provide feedback or comments, or otherwise communicate with us. From time to time, we may ask for personal information on other portions of the site, such as asking you to sign a petition or participate in a contest.
